Dreams Over Charleston, depicting a young ballerina soaring over the Charleston Harbor at night, captures what everyone dreams about, but can never do. This original, as are most of Paul's paintings, is a mixed media creation. The process began with a photograph provided by the grandparents of the young ballerina and a photograph of the Charleston Harbor taken with a Canon 20D SLR digital camera by Paul. The photo was then developed in the darkroom of Adobe Photoshop. The next step was a virtual painting of the photo completely had-brushstroked in Corel Painter X. That image was the printed to canvas, 36 x 18, stretched, and prepared for painting. The resulting canvas was then handpainted in oils covering 95-100% of the canvas and finished with a museum quality preservative medium.
This nighttime scene brightly lit by the young ballerina in the night sky will be enjoyed for years to come. This painted dream will look stunning in a child's room, home, or just about anywhere.
